-------------------------Hussar Regiment « Maria Luisa », Private, 1806
Hussars were a new arm in the Spanish cavalry, being introduced 1803-1805, with much converting and reconverting. In 1808 there were only 2 regiments – this and a « Regiment Españoles », which seems to have had an all-blue uniform.
A French officer thought Spanish hussars looked awkward, their uniforms being an unskilled copy of conventional hussar dress – they used dragoon-type saddles, and slung their carbines from them rather than carry them on a shoulder belt. Note the high red collar on the pelisse – Spanish hussar officers also wore epaulets on theirs. Trumpeters wore reversed colors.
Bon, il est vrai que JJ ne précise pas l'époque qu'il désire représenter, ni ici ni sur son blog !PaquitoSan a écrit :Les hussards français début révolution ne sont-ils pas semblables ?
